The “mummy” is mostly a woman in ragged clothes with minimal prosthetic work, not the rotting, bandaged creature you’d expect. Pacing is sluggish, kills are bloodless, and characters are cardboard cutouts (the jock, the nerd, the skeptic). For a film called American Mummy , there’s very little Egyptian or even Spanish mummy lore—just a vague curse and a lot of running.
