Nagi shrugs. “It’s just geometry.”

Reo glances back at Nagi. “Scared?”

A man in a black suit steps out, holding a tablet. He’s not a teacher. He’s not a scout. He’s a messenger.

Nagi doesn’t care about names. He closes his eyes.

It’s not a hard touch. It’s not even a real pass. But the ball rockets across the wet grass, slicing between two defenders, curving around a cone, and nestling perfectly into the corner of an abandoned goal twenty meters away.

Nagi follows, hands in his pockets, head slightly bowed. Nagi shrugs

Reo steps forward first, his shoulders back, his chin high. He’s never looked more alive.

Reo spots Nagi. His face lights up.

Nagi looks at the helicopter. At the rain. At the ball still sitting in the goal. He’s not a teacher

A speaker crackles to life. A voice like gravel and gasoline:

And Episode 1 of Episode Nagi ends—not with a bang, but with the soft, sleepy sigh of a boy who has no idea that the world is about to set him on fire.

“See?” Reo says, walking over. “You’re a genius, Nagi. You have the touch . The first touch that kills the ball dead. The spatial awareness that sees three passes ahead without even trying. You don’t love soccer. But soccer loves you.”

Somewhere in the facility, a buzzer sounds.
