Across the cavernous space, Near sits cross-legged on a metal crate, his white hair a stark contrast to the gloom. He fiddles with a miniature finger puppet, his expression unreadable. Behind him, the SPK agents stand at attention, guns holstered but hands near the grips.

"I switched it," Matsuda says, his voice cracking. "At headquarters. While you were in the bathroom. I’ve suspected you for years. I didn’t want to believe it. But when you told me to kill my own father… when you used the Death Note to make that criminal write names… I knew. You’re not a god, Light. You’re a monster."

The air inside the Yellow Box Warehouse is cold, sterile, and smells of dry concrete. Grey light filters through high, grimy windows, illuminating dust motes that drift like silent witnesses. Light Yagami stands with his hands in the pockets of his beige coat, a thin, almost serene smile playing on his lips. Behind him, Misa Amane fidgets, while the Task Force—Aizawa, Matsuda, Ide, and the rest—stand with grim, uncertain faces.
He pulls out his own Death Note—the one he dropped into the human world five years ago. He opens it. Light’s eyes widen in horror. Mikami freezes
Light looks up at him, a flicker of hope in his dying eyes. "Ryuk… write their names. I order you. I’m your owner. Write their names!"
The word hangs in the air like a guillotine blade. Light. Not Kira. Light Yagami.
The bullet tears through Light’s shoulder, sending him sprawling. Blood pools on the grey concrete, mixing with the dust. As Light lies there, bleeding and broken, Ryuk—the Shinigami who started it all—materializes from the shadows.
"Mikami," Light says, his voice dripping with confidence. "Show them. Show them the power of Kira."
