Frieza laughed—a wet, broken sound. “No Dragon can save you now, Saiyan. The Grand Elder is dead. The balls are stone!”
The white light exploded outward.
He was going to become the wish. Deep within the core of Namek, the original Namekian elder had whispered a secret to Nail before dying: “The Dragon Balls are not just orbs of power. They are memory. If one who has touched the heart of a Namekian—truly touched it—offers their own life force, the balls can grant one final, silent wish. No summoning. No dragon. Just a single act of selfless will.”
“You fool,” Frieza hissed, staggering forward. “You saved them… and left yourself here. With me.” dragon ball z 68
“You think you’ve won, monkey?” Frieza spat, blood spilling from his fractured jaw. “The planet is dying. You die with me.”
“But Porunga wasn’t even summoned!” Krillian shouted.
“I know,” Goku said softly. “That’s why I’m not wishing for us to live.” Frieza laughed—a wet, broken sound
Goku fell to his knees, gasping. The four-star ball turned to dust in his hand. His skin was pale, his breath ragged. He had given everything—not his life, but the energy that made his life matter . He would survive, but he would be weak. Perhaps forever.
Goku said nothing. He looked past Frieza, toward the ruined Namekian village where his friends lay beaten. Vegeta, dead by Frieza’s hand. Piccolo, barely conscious. Gohan and Krillin, huddled behind a rock, their energy signatures flickering like candles in a storm.
And then Goku understood.
The explosion was silent in space.
They were safe. Frieza stared at the empty space where the Earthlings had been. His jaw went slack. “Impossible… without the dragon… without a ship…”
