The film was the subject of intense pre-release backlash due to fan resistance to an all-female cast. 1. Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016) – English Director: Paul Feig Cast: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth
In this reboot/continuation of the 1984 classic, paranormal physicist Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and particle physicist Abby Yates (McCarthy) reunite after a rift. Along with eccentric engineer Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon) and subway worker Patty Tolan (Jones), they discover that a surge in paranormal activity in Manhattan is being orchestrated by a shy, vengeful 19th-century inventor (Rowan North). Using modified nuclear accelerators (proton packs), they trap ghosts and save the city from a spectral apocalypse.
However, the closest thematic match in Hindi cinema from that era is (2012) only in the sense of “ghosts in a modern setting,” but it is a straight horror film, not a comedy-action like Ghostbusters.
If you want a genuine Hindi ghost-busting comedy, watch "Bhootnath" (2008) or "Stree" (2018) . For the 2016 Answer the Call , treat it as a standalone comedy with great visual effects and a killer cast, but temper expectations if you revere the original 1984 film.
