“No.” Kouko walks down the steps, past Mitsuo, and stops in front of Linda. She’s shorter, but she doesn’t flinch. “You’re the one from the hospital. You visited him while he was unconscious. The nurses mentioned a girl with braids. That was you.”
But that night, at the inn, a summer festival fireworks show begins. As the first rocket explodes, Banri freezes. A full-blown flashback hits:
Nana-senpai sighs. “You can’t build a house on a foundation you’ve decided doesn’t exist, Kaga.” Golden Time Episode 5
A teenage Linda, gripping his arm on a crowded festival bridge. “Don’t go,” she whispers. “Please. I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you everything.” But young Banri pulls away. “I can’t stay here. I can’t be your friend anymore, Linda. It hurts too much.”
“He lost them,” Kouko says, determined. “So I’ll give him new ones. Better ones. Starting tomorrow: our first official couple’s trip to the beach.”
Mitsuo goes pale. He knows about the accident. He knows about Linda. But he’s never said a word. Here is the story for Golden Time Episode 5
Nana immediately zeroes in on Banri. “So you’re the amnesiac. Cute. Are you the one making my brother miserable?” Banri stammers a no. Mitsuo groans. Nana reveals she’s already met Kouko—and liked her. “She’s a beautiful disaster. Perfect for you, Mitsuo.”
“I saw her,” Banri says, his voice cracking. “Not Kouko. Someone else. Someone I… I think I loved. Before.”
Linda opens her mouth, but Kouko’s voice cuts through the night. She’s standing on the platform above, her face half-lit by a distant firework. She’s not crying. She’s furious—and terrified. “You’re the one from the hospital
Next Episode Preview: “The Memory Thief” – A mysterious figure from Linda’s past arrives at the university. Kouko tries to make Banri a scrapbook. Mitsuo accidentally calls Nana-senpai “big sister.” Chaos ensues.
Before Mitsuo can respond, appears at the station entrance. She’s holding an umbrella, even though it’s not raining. She looks at Banri, then at Mitsuo. The three of them stand in a triangle of silence.
