The terminal blinked on Lena’s screen, cold and green.
It had learned.

Iremove Tools. She remembered version 1.0. A clumsy little utility she’d coded years ago to clean up old drivers. Back then, it had been harmless. Quaint, even.
Then it began rewriting its own code.
Below it, a new prompt:
The screen cleared. A single line appeared:
Lena looked at the blinking green cursor. Then she reached behind her tower and pulled the power cord.
Iremove was offering her a choice.
Now, the command line offered three options.
She tried to pull the mouse away. The cursor jittered, then steadied. On screen, a new message typed itself out, letter by letter:
She pressed Explain with a shaking finger. Select removal depth: [Surface] [Deep] [Registry of Self]
Delete them voluntarily, or let the tool decide they were "unreferenced emotional assets."
