“Bubbles?” Lili tilted her head. “In gumbo?”
The two princesses hugged each other, sticky and covered in foam.
Lili gasped. “But the recipe is a secret! It’s locked in the Golden Spoon Vault!”
Lili smiled. “Part 4?”
The morning sun spilled like honey over the balcony of the Whispering Rose Tower. Princess Lili was already awake, her crown tilted sideways because she had used it to scoop jellybeans from a jar at midnight. Beside her, Princess Cary snored softly, a tiny bubble growing and shrinking from her nose with every breath.
That night, the whole kingdom ate Giggling Gumbo. Even the grumpy dragon who lived under the bridge laughed so hard he hiccupped little sparks. And as Lili and Cary lay in bed, staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars on their ceiling, Cary whispered:
