Mehr’s hands tremble, but her voice is ice. She stands up

Rahi researches “Mehr Ahuja.” He finds everything: Forbes lists, charity galas, her dead father (SAMAR AHUJA, died 2019 in a “car accident”). The same year Rahi’s father was killed.

She looks at him—really looks. For a second, she sees safety. He sees guilt.

“Honest. You don’t drink. I saw you at the cemetery. You were sober and sad. Alcohol doesn’t fix sad.” She walks away from her security

“You don’t belong here.”

They sit away from the crowd. Rahi orders chai. Mehr orders whiskey. He switches her glass with the chai without asking.

His phone buzzes. His mother, SUHANI (50s), video calls. She’s in a modest kitchen in Amritsar.
