Pommeke decided to cross the garden – barefoot. The sandbox, usually a cool kingdom of castles and trucks, had turned into a golden, blazing desert after three days of heatwave. One tiny step… and Pommeke hopped right back! “Hete voetjes!” (Hot feet!) But being the brave little fruit that it is, Pommeke waited until sunset, then returned with a mini bucket of water to cool the sand down. Victory never felt so refreshing.

The hottest adventure of all wasn’t fire or spice – it was flying. Pommeke saw a hot air balloon drifting over the fields and decided: “Today, I go up.” With a little help from a friendly seagull and a scarf tied to a basket, Pommeke soared. Up there, the sun was fierce, but the wind was kind. Pommeke waved at the world below and whispered: “Heat isn’t so scary when you rise above it.”

Undeterred, Pommeke climbed onto a spoon (very carefully) and took a tiny dip. “Pffft – heet, heet, HEET!” But after a quick sip of yogurt (the official cooling buddy of spicy food), Pommeke declared: “Worth it.”
